Your GiveSure donation will benefit the work of Mercy Ships, which serves the urgent surgical needs of the poor, in the developing world, providing life transforming operations on hospital ships and through land programmes. Mercy Ships partners with developing communities to rebuild and improve access to health facilities; in training health care workers and in the provision of clean water and sanitation, being the essential requirement for good health.
Our new ship the Africa Mercy sails to Africa in Spring 2007 bringing hope and healing to people in need of treatments in West Africa. Operations include cleft-lip-and-palate, cataracts, benign tumours, maxillo facial surgeries, orthopaedics and many other treatments.
The Mercy Ships New Steps clinic in Freetown, Sierra Leone treats and rehabilitates landmine and polio victims; the Aberdeen Clinic and Fistula Centre also in Freetown provides much needed surgeries for women, following injury from obstructed labour, due to lack of obstetric care.
